Stolen Mission trailer found in Youngstown

WARREN — Right on time for its Easter meal distribution, the Warren Family Mission’s stolen mobile food trailer has been recovered after an anonymous tip led to its discovery in Youngstown.

The red 8-foot-by-12-foot trailer, which was stolen the night of March 30 from the mission parking lot at 155 Tod Ave. NW, was found Monday in Youngstown after an unidentified caller provided a tip about its location.

Dominic Mararri, spokesman for the mission, said on social media he followed the lead and after initially not spotting the trailer on the road described, turned down another street where he found it.

“I prayed, and the Lord led me right to it,” Mararri said. “I turned down the wrong road and there it was! Glory to God!”

The trailer, used to serve more than 119,000 meals last year, is a critical part of the mission’s mobile feeding program, especially with Easter approaching.

Its theft was a devastating blow, but its recovery has brought relief and gratitude.

Mararri credited divine intervention along with teamwork of the Youngstown and Warren

police departments plus the anonymous tipster for the successful recovery.

“God bless everyone who helped bring this trailer home,” Mararri said. “This is a victory for our community and the people we serve.”

Police are continuing to investigate the theft, which was caught on surveillance footage showing two suspects in a silver SUV with a dark hood hitching and driving off with the trailer.

Despite the ordeal, the mission leaders said they are eager to resume outreach efforts.

“We won’t let this stop us from feeding those in need,” Mararri said

Starting at $3.23/week.
