Leetonia man indicted in Austinown aggravated burglary

YOUNGSTOWN — Donavin J. Hanna, 34, Ridge Street, Leetonia, was indicted last week on charges of aggravated burglary and domestic violence in a Feb. 3 incident involving his girlfriend at her home in the Compass West Apartments in Austintown.

An Austintown police report states that someone called 911 at 11 p.m. Feb. 3 to ask police for help with a domestic situation involving Hanna.

When officers arrived, the victim said she was on the phone with Hanna, her child’s father, and they were arguing over him “not being informed enough about their child’s illness,” the report states.

The woman said she could hear her own dog barking through the phone line, suggesting that Hanna was nearby. She asked Hanna if he was nearby, and Hanna said “Yes,” and she told him to leave, the report states.

At that point, she heard the rear door open, and she ran upstairs, followed by Hanna, the report states. While in the bedroom, Hanna hit her in the mouth, causing it to bleed, the report states.

They argued some more, then Hanna left. She told police Hanna was not invited to her home and did not want him there. The woman’s lip was “a little swollen with dried blood on it,” the report states.

If Hanna is convicted of aggravated burglary, he could get more than 10 years in prison. The domestic violence charge, a low-level felony, could add more prison time if convicted.
