Trumbull bringing job and family services workers back to office

WARREN — Trumbull County’s Department of Job and Family Services will require its employees working from home to return to working full-time at their office within the next two weeks.

John Gargano, director of the department, said 50 to 70 employees work at least part-time from their homes. However, based on a proclamation from Gov. Mike DeWine’s office for state employees to return to their job locations, Gargano questioned whether it is time for county workers to do the same.

“I think it is time for them to return,” Gargano said. “It served a purpose, and they did well.”

Gargano said employees work from home on a hybrid schedule that allows them to work from home a few days a week, but they must work at their normal office locations on other days.

“It has been like that since last September,” he said.

Gargano said he can have these employees back by next Monday.

Commissioner Denny Malloy, however, said he would like to provide them up to two weeks to get ready to move back into the office.

“We have an agreement that I can bring them back tomorrow,” Gargano said.

He added that different counties have been addressing this situation in a variety of ways.

Starting at $2.99/week.
