Oakhill building closed after power outage
YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Commissioners announced Monday that Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave., closed for the second part of the day after a power outage.
All employees and visitors were ordered to vacate the building for the rest of the day while authorities worked to restore power. Normal operations were expected to resume today.
YSU gets state funding for regional workforce effort
YOUNGSTOWN — The State Controlling Board awarded $331,446 to Youngstown State University for a program aimed at assisting with regional workforce demands.
The funding, approved Monday by the board, comes from the Ohio Department of Education’s Regionally Aligned Priorities in Developing Skills program.
The program develops strategies to build education and training infrastructures that draw on regional economies and labor markets.
“I am happy to see state investment in job training and investing in our workforce,” said state Rep. Lauren McNally, D-Youngstown.
Woman loses $23K in online scam where man posed as CIA agent
WARREN — A Trumbull County resident reported losing $23,000 in an online scam after receiving a fraudulent email posing as a PayPal alert, authorities said Monday. According to a news release from the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office, the victim received an email Friday claiming she owed $300.
When she contacted a phone number from the email, a man posing as CIA agent “Alex Rodger” accused her of involvement in a money laundering scheme and directed her to withdraw $23,000 in cash to ship to an address in Vienna, Virginia, for “verification.”
The sheriff’s office warned residents to avoid sending cash, banking details or personal information to unsolicited requests and to contact law enforcement immediately if targeted.
The suspects remain unidentified, and the case is under investigation.

Police respond to Liberty shooting Thursday
LIBERTY — Police responded to a shooting on Green Acres Drive late Thursday.
Officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive around 11:50 p.m. after reports of a 17-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. According to the police report, officers arrived at the scene within minutes and remained there until 2:40 a.m.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. No further details were provided in the report.
Man found dead in fire in Youngstown kitchen
YOUNGSTOWN — An investigation is ongoing after a man was found dead in a Thursday fire.
The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office on Friday identified the victim as Jesse Dandridge, 42, after an autopsy was conducted.
Fire Chief Barry Finley confirmed Friday that the victim was found at a Burlington Street structure fire that originated in the kitchen.
The fire remains under investigation by the Youngstown Fire Department and the county coroner’s office.
