YOUNGSTOWN — Twin sisters Andrea H. Springs and Lisa D. Springs, 21, both pleaded guilty to felonious assault Thursday in a March 2024 incident on Tyrell Avenue on the West Side in which shots were fired at a car containing six people, four of whom were children.

Andrea Springs pleaded guilty to six counts of felonious assault and a gun specification, and prosecutors are recommending that she get eightto 12.5 years in prison. Lisa Springs pleaded guilty to one count of felonious assault, and prosecutors are recommending that she get two to three years in prison.

Judge Anthony D’Apolito of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court will sentence them March 27. Andrea Springs remains in the Mahoning County jail, while Lisa Springs remains free on bond.

The sisters were living on Tyrell Avenue at the time of the incident, which officials say stemmed from an argument over a man. Investigators said Andrea Springs fired several shots at a car in the 2600 block of Tyrell Avenue on March 16.

Six people were in the car that was targeted, including four children.

Lisa D. Springs was allegedly with her sister, Andrea, in their car during the 1:41 p.m. incidents, investigators said. When police arrived, a juvenile told police his aunt was shot.

Officers asked the juvenile to take them to her. He took them to the 2400 block of Tyrell Avenue, where the victim was in the passenger seat of the car with a man in the driver’s seat and juveniles in the back seat.

The woman said she had been shot in the foot and wanted medical attention. An ambulance was already at the apartment complex and took the woman for treatment. Additional details of the shooting are likely to be provided at the sentencing hearing.

Prosecutors are asking D’Apolito to order the sisters to pay $4,423 in restitution to one victim and $325 to another victim.

Starting at $2.99/week.
