Struthers passes budgetary ordinances

STRUTHERS — At the final city council meeting of the year, the schedule for the upcoming year and four ordinances were approved, focusing on budgetary matters.

All were passed 6-0 with two members absent and were enacted as emergency measures to ensure timely implementation for the start of the year. They were:

• 2025 first quarter budget, which took effect Jan. 1 and extends for a maximum of 90 days.

• An amendment to the 2024 budget to reflect changes in appropriated funds and expenses.

• A transfer of $40,000 from the 2024 general fund to the police pension fund.

• A transfer of $25,000 from the 2024 general fund to the fire pension fund.

Council also reviewed an amendment to an existing ordinance that prohibits the parking of vehicles on lawns, grass or landscaped areas. The new amendment, which expands the definition to motor vehicles, boats and recreational vehicles, was on its second reading for public comment. However, no members of the public were in attendance. Its third reading will take place at the first meeting of the year on Jan. 15, where, if approved, it will go into effect.

Starting at $2.99/week.
