Mahoning commissioners award funds to Catholic Charities for cold-weather help
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Commissioners, in partnership with the Mahoning County Homeless Continuum of Care, have awarded funding to Catholic Charities Regional Agency to provide cold-weather services during the winter months, the commissioners stated in a press release. The initiative is in its second year.
From Dec. 1, 2024, to March 30, 2025, Catholic Charities will support individuals unable to stay with family, friends or at a local shelter by securing temporary accommodations in motels, the release states.
To access assistance, call Catholic Charities at 330-744-3320 during business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Outside of these hours, individuals should call 211 for assistance. The caller will be connected to the PATH Street Outreach Project through the Help Network.
The PATH on-call team will explore alternative options, such as stays with family, friends or at local shelters, including the rescue mission. If no other options are available, the PATH team will arrange for motel accommodations, the release states.
For more information about the program, contact Catholic Charities Regional Agency at 330-744-3320 during business hours.
