Juveniles arrested at Boardman hotel
BOARDMAN — Two juveniles were arrested, one on a felony charge, after more than a dozen teenagers were said to have caused problems at a local hotel.
A Boardman police report states that officers were called to the Residence Inn on Tiffany South Boulevard on Sunday after the manager called to report juveniles making noise in the hallways and running back and forth knocking on other guests’ doors.
The manager told police he received several complaints from guests at the hotel and believed the problem was coming from one room where a group of juveniles likely was staying without an adult.
Police confirmed as much after a short investigation.
When they arrived, they encountered one teenager who said a girl in Room 114 tried to fight her. When police went to that room, they encountered one teen boy and then another, both of whom came into the hallway to speak to them. The report states the boys were both cagey with their responses. Police told them that the manager had ordered them to leave and that all of them would need to be released to adults.
The report states that two officers entered the room while two remained in the hall to check the kids as they left. As one girl walked out, she tried to avoid the officers and was pulled aside. The report states that when a female officer searched her and found a handgun sticking out of her waistband, the girl grabbed the gun and dropped to the floor and police had to restrain her and remove the gun from her grasp. The girl was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, a fourth-degree felony, and misdemeanor charges of obstruction and resisting arrest. She was taken to the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center.
As officers searched the room, they found that another handgun and an empty bottle of tequila had been thrown out the window of the room, and found another empty tequila bottle in the bathroom.
All the other juveniles but one were released to responsible adults. One girl was arrested on obstruction after lying to police about calling her mother. She did eventually give police her mother’s contact information and was released to her aunt’s custody.
