60TH ANNIVERSARY: Pastor Frank Willoughby will be the guest speaker for Hubbard Church of the Nazarene’s 60th anniversary celebration 10:45 a.m. Sunday at the church, 1815 Cherry Lane Drive SE. A potluck luncheon follows the service in the Fellowship Hall.

UNITED FOR LIFE: Men and Women United for Life, a pro-life group in the Diocese of Youngstown, will present international speaker, Brendan McCauley, at 6 p.m. Nov. 3 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Mount Carmel Ave., Youngstown. McCauley will share the teachings of Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body and the beauty of the virtue of chastity. He will share how every human life is sacred and deserving of dignity and respect regardless of his or her life circumstance or disability. This event is free and open to all teens and adults age 14 and older.

Dabney specializes in Catholic Moral Philosophy and American Catholicism. He serves as the director of religious education and Formation for St. Agnes and Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Cleveland and was appointed chair of the board of trustees for St. Mary’s Seminary in the fall of 2022. Dabney served in lay ministry and leadership for nearly a decade in various dioceses and parishes in the United States.
Dabney will present “A Restless Heart: Finding Rest in God’s Church” at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road in Canfield. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., with the presentation beginning at noon. The cost is $25. Call by Oct. 31 at 330-720-4498. Reservations are limited.
SOULS TO THE POLLS: Local churches, community organizations, and grassroots groups are coming together for Souls to the Polls 2024, a community event aimed at encouraging voter participation ahead of the upcoming election. The event will take place 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Trumbull County Board of Elections, 2947 Youngstown Road SE, Warren.
The collaborative effort is sponsored by ACTION of Mahoning Valley, iVote Black, Warren Forward, O.N.E, and Second Baptist Church-A House of Hope. The goal of this effort, a part of ACTION’s Integrated Voter Engagement Initiative, is to empower voters to exercise their civic duty and increase voter turnout, especially among minority and disadvantaged communities in Trumbull County.
Participants who cast their ballots during the event and present their “I Voted” sticker will receive a free meal at RBG Eatery on the same day.
Free transportation is available to and from the polling location. Local churches, community organizations, and grassroots groups are invited to participate in this important get-out-the-vote campaign. The event will feature music, refreshments, and a spirit of unity as the community rallies together for a common cause. INTRO TO PSALMS: Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will offer the virtual series “Introduction to Psalms, Our First Prayer Book” with Rabbi Joseph Schonberger at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 via Zoom. The Zoom link will be available on the website. The program will be a review of the Ten Psalms unit that Rabbi Nachman of Bratzlav and many others in the Jewish world have found helpful for their lives.

PRAISE IN PINK: Women of Progressive Baptist Church will host Proudly Praising in Pink, a worship service and brunch Saturday at the church, 2258 Colonial Ave. SE in Warren. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink. The guest speaker will be Dr. Kimberly Jackson-Pinn, an osteopathic physician who believes in the body’s ability to heal itself and the connection between the mind, body and spirit. Minister Lavertta Cooks-Shouse is the guest soloist.
The worship service will be in the church sanctuary.

BISHOP VISIT: Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 140 Cherry St. in Warren, will welcome Dr. Laura Barbins, bishop of the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, at 10 a.m. Sunday at the church, which is marking ist 112th year. Barbins is the bishop for 196 Lutheran churches.
MEET MUSLIM NEIGHBOR: Meet Your Muslim Neighbor will be noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Masjid Al-Khair, 1670 Homewood Ave, Youngstown. The public will learn about Muslim foods, culture and religion.
SETON III TO MEET: Members of Seton III will meet Thursday at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Lunch will be at noon and the program’s theme is “Memories.” The prayer will be led by Susan Paczak and hostesses will be Judy Love, Helen Sharrer and Catherine Fleming. New members are welcome.
MEMORY AND HOPE: In Memory and in Hope will be 7 p.m. Monday at Congregation Ohev Beth Shalom, across from Wick Park in Youngstown. The event will lift voices to honor those silenced on Oct. 7, 2023. The service will feature Rabbi Courtney Berman and local musicians and vocalists from around the valley. Featured will be soloist Bill Ambert and accompanist Kathy Miller and other musicians and vocalists from across the valley.
At 10 a.m., there will be a modified version of “Chalk the Walk” in partnership with Ohio Nonviolence Week and local artist Daniel Rauschenbach. The event will include using sidewalk chalk on canvas to create artwork inspired by Daniel’s leadership; focusing on the concepts of peace, and nonviolence.

The program is part of the First Sunday addiction awareness program series. Holmes-Chambers is a licensed social worker and is a former educator and has several years of experience working with the community. Through her position with the TCMHRB, she is a member of ASAP, the Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention, a faith-based committee.
