WHAT: October trustees meeting
PRESENT: Dave Tomaino, Edward Villone and Wendy DiBernardi
Trustees:
● Accepted the resignation of police officer Destiny Burkhamer.
● Received an Ohio Department of Natural Resources Reimbursement Grant for four docks to be used according to ODNR Grant Recreational rules.
● Approved quote for the fire department’s Firestone tire replacements from Great Lakes Tire, totaling $4,317.
● Approved a leave of absence of Justin Binkiewicz from Nov. 18, 2024, to April 28, 2025, to enlist in the Air Force Reserve. He will return with EMT certification.
● Approved changing Dave Dunn Sr.’s status from consultant / trainer to active firefighter.
● Approved using Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and the Firefighter Exposure to Environmental Elements Cost Share Safety Intervention grants for three new sets of fire gear equipment. Total cost is $12,000, with Milton Township’s share of $2,038. Old gear has now reached the 10-year safety limit, according to Fire Chief Kenneth Oles.
● Approved providing $1,199 for fire department flow testing on SCBA masks, a respirator that provides breathable air to the wearer in hazardous environments, through an FEEE and BWC grant.
● Approved utilizing FEEE and BWC Cost Share Safety Intervention grant funds for a new ambulance power load patient lift system with cot. Its total cost is $67,167 with Milton Township’s share of $28,381.
● Accepted police Chief Charles VanDyke’s request to apply for a 2025 MARCS’ grant quote for the cost of all necessary modifications on all 19 mobile and portable police and fire radios. It will cost $3,325 with Bearcom as its potential source provider.
