Hubbard proposes pay increases for 5 positions, more may come
HUBBARD — City council’s finance committee is recommending pay adjustments for various positions in the city.
Councilwoman Robin Zambrini, D-2nd Ward, requested at Monday’s council meeting that legislation be prepared for the Nov. 4 meeting to begin the process of increasing the pay for the mayor’s assistant, service superintendent, auditor, treasurer and council clerk. Zambrini, chairwoman of the finance committee, said a review of their salaries warrants a pay adjustment.
She said the committee will meet again Wednesday to see if any additional positions warrant a pay increase.
“We did not get to review all of them,” Zambrini said.
The proposed increases are:
• Mayor’s assistant, now at $36,500 annually, will be increased to $19.71 per hour or $40,966 annually effective Jan. 1, 2025; $20.81 per hour or $43,284 annually effective Jan. 1, 2026; and $21.90 per hour or $45,552 annually effective Jan. 1, 2027.
• Service superintendent, now at $65,000 annually, will be increased to $68,250 effective Jan. 1.
• Auditor, now at $51,000 annually, will increase to $51,500 annually in 2025, and will be increased to $60,000 effective Jan. 1, 2026, when a new term begins; $62,000 effective Jan. 1, 2027; and $64,000 effective Jan. 1, 2028.
• Treasurer, now at $10,200 annually, will increase to $10,300 in 2025, and will be increased to $12,000 effective Jan. 1, 2026 when a new term begins, $13,000 effective Jan. 1, 2027, and $14,000 effective Jan. 1, 2028.
• Council clerk, now at $7,500 annually, will be increased to $8,000 effective Jan. 1, 2025.
In other business, Mayor Ben Kyle said the city is getting a new grocery store, Price Cutter, to be located in the former Save A Lot building.
Kyle said the Midwest grocery chain has many locations in the Kansas City area.
“It is a hybrid store between conventional and discount,” Kyle said.
Kyle said he also has an initiative working with other area mayors to take a regional approach to fill vacant Rite Aid store buildings throughout the area.
