Sheriff’s office receives nearly $150K for traffic safety, enforcement
YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office will use almost $150,000 in grant funds to carry out traffic safety education and enforcement.
The office was awarded $94,147 in Federal Traffic Safety grants and $55,500 from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, according to a press release.
Sheriff Jerry Green stated in the release that speed, impaired driving, texting while driving and seat belt use are priorities based on crash data, and the office is “pleased to work with our partners at the state level to address this safety issue.”
To reduce those types of crashes, the office will conduct “high visibility enforcement, working overtime hours,” Greene said.
