WARREN -- A Youngstown man pleaded guilty and was charged with tampering of records.
Erik Snead, 42, appeared at the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Wednesday and was charged with a third-degree felony for filling out false documents regarding his service in the military when he never served, according to a court news release.
Snead said he was injured serving in Iraq.
He is serving nine months in prison in addition to a 24-month probation on a gun charge he pleaded guilty to in December 2023. He is at the Trumbull Correctional Institution.
The release states he tried convincing Judge Sean O'Brien he left the service during boot camp before confessing.
"Your lies have gotten you these prison sentences," O'Brien replied. "I think you better start telling the truth."
Three other charges were dropped in light of his plea agreement which included another felony charge of tampering with records and two misdemeanor charges of falsification.
