WHAT: Village council meeting Wednesday

PRESENT: Sean Schmidt, Kerry Reckard, John Metzinger, Kyle Joynes, Chad Jones, Don Smith and Mayor Ray Lewis

Council:

• Gave the second of three readings prohibiting the cultivation and sale of recreational marijuana and dispensaries in the village. The village also prohibits medical marijuana dispensaries, which have been on the books since 2017. The final reading of the ordinance is scheduled for Sept. 4.

•Appointed Ashley Angel and Annette Shick as firefighters/paramedics and former fire Chief Todd Stitt as an honorary firefighter, who will also work.

•Were shown a new patch design for firefighter uniforms designed by a McDonald High School art student.

•Signed on with KO Consulting for grant writing for safety services items.

•Temporarily paused the levy exploration committee for a safety forces levy since the election cycle for 2024 has passed.
