Mahoning County tax issues and liquor options for 2024 general election

The following candidates for a Mahoning County Court seat and issues filed for the Nov. 5 general election by Wednesday’s deadline. They are subject to certification from the county board of elections. An * denotes incumbents. This doesn’t include candidates who’ve previously filed for seats on the general election ballot, including winners of Democratic and Republican primaries.

ISSUES

PUBLIC LIBRARY OF YOUNGSTOWN AND MAHONING COUNTY: A 2.4-mill, 5-year renewal levy for maintenance and operations.

AUSTINTOWN: A 2.4-mill additional levy for a continuous period of time for the police department.

BEAVER: A 2.9-mill, 5-year renewal levy for the police department.

BEAVER: A 3.6-mill, 5-year renewal levy for the police department.

BEAVER: A 1-mill, 5-year renewal levy for the fire department.

BOARDMAN: A 0.3-mill, 5-year renewal levy for streets, roads and bridges.

BOARDMAN: A 4.5-mill, 5-year additional levy for fire and emergency medical services.

BOARDMAN: A 0.6-mill, 5-year renewal levy for park maintenance.

CANFIELD CITY: Charter amendment to publish required notifications on the city’s website and social media platforms in place of a newspaper of general circulation.

CRAIG BEACH: A 2-mill, 5-year replacement levy for fire and emergency medical services.

CRAIG BEACH: A 3-mill, 5-year renewal levy for roads.

GOSHEN: A 2-mill replacement levy for a continuous period of time for the fire department.

POLAND VILLAGE: A 3.2-mill, 5-year renewal levy for current expenses.

SEBRING: A 2-mill, 5-year additional levy for the police department.

SEBRING: A 2-mill, 5-year additional levy for park and recreation services.

SEBRING: A 1-mill, 5-year renewal levy for recreational purposes.

SEBRING: Repeal Section 7.06 of the charter regarding the membership of the park and recreation board.

SEBRING: Repeal Sections 8.01, 8.02, 8.03, 8.04 and 8.05 of the charter regarding general elections, primary elections held in September, petitions for candidacy, nominations during primaries and not permitting political party affiliations.

SPRINGFIELD: A 1-mill, 5-year renewal levy for the police department.
