HUBBARD --- A fire destroyed a garage Thursday afternoon at a horse-training facility.
Firefighters responded to the call at 4:30 p.m. and were dispatched to 2600 Seifert-Lewis Road at Brian Cox Quarter Horses, which trains and shelters horses for clients.
No humans or horses were harmed during the fire.
Maggie Cox, co-owner of Brian Cox Quarter Horses said the garage was 2,500 feet away from the horse barn, which at the time had four horses stabled.
"We're blessed it wasn't the barn or no one got hurt," she said. "It was terrible (but) it's what it is. We'll move forward."
She said all horses are client horses, and none is owned by the family.
Eagle Joint Fire District Chief Ron Stanish said the garage was a total loss.
Cox said the garage contained lawn mowers, tractors, golf carts and other yard equipment that also were destroyed in the fire.
"Business won't stop but we're not cutting the grass and looking presentable for a while," she said. "It's all replaceable, it's just a process."
Stanish said the fire was caused by one of the lawn mowers.
He also said Maggie Cox's husband and other co-owner, Brian Cox, was not present at the time of the fire.
Maggie Cox said her husband was away at a horse show.
She said she is unsure of when the garage will be completely fixed and when the equipment will be replaced.
