YOUNGSTOWN — CeeJay Latimer, 21, Franklin Avenue, was sentenced to two to three years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to burglary, two counts of domestic violence and one count of child endangering.

Prosecutors said Latimer broke into the house of the mother of his two children on Vestal Road on the West Side by coming through a window at 8:50 p.m. April 5. He hit one child in the back and hit the woman in the arm during a struggle. Youngstown police arrested him at the scene.

Judge John Durkin of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court gave Latimer the sentence jointly recommended by prosecutors and the defense with credit for 109 days served in the Mahoning County jail awaiting trial.

Prosecutors said they will not oppose judicial release from prison at the time Latimer becomes eligible. Prosecutors are recommending that Latimer enter a residential drug treatment program and get mental health treatment when he leaves prison.

Durkin said he will not oppose early release as long as Latminer does not get into trouble while in prison.

Kevin Day, assistant county prosecutor, said the mother of his children, one of the victims, wants to see Latimer get treatment for his mental health and substance abuse issues.
