Youngstown homes hit by gunfire; two people injured
YOUNGSTOWN — A juvenile boy and another person suffered gunshot wounds over the weekend with the boy being hit on Southern Boulevard on the South Side during a drive-by shooting. He was later deemed to be in stable condition, according to reports.
In that incident, police were called at 8:24 p.m. Saturday. Police officers secured the scene, and the boy was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. The boy’s age was not provided, nor the location on his body where he was hit.
In the other shooting, officers were called to Vestal Road at Bruno Street on the West Side at 12:49 p.m. Saturday. Bruno runs north off Vestal Road and connects to Oregon Avenue.
In that incident, police were called to the area for gunfire. Later, officers were advised that a shooting victim arrived at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. A police report does not give the sex, age or condition of the victim or any other details surrounding the shooting.
A third incident involved gunshots being fired at three houses on Parmalee Avenue on the North Side, but not causing any known injuries.
Police were called to Parmalee at 11:39 p.m. Sunday for gunshots striking houses. When officers arrived, they saw people looking at their houses for damage.
All of the victims said they did not see anything. One home was hit in the front, and a car was hit in the resident’s automobile in the driveway.
At a second home, a bullet went through an east-facing side wall of the house and hit an interior wall, breaking the rear sliding glass door, the report states. A second bullet hit a sliding glass door in the rear of the home.
At another home, a bullet went through a west side wall and came to rest in the home near where a person who is bedridden was located in the living room, the report states. The person was nearly hit by the bullet.
Police said there may be surveillance video of suspects running through the rear yards.
Crime scene investigators collected 14 spent bullet shell casings from three different kinds of guns in the street in front of the homes.
