Youngstown goes Global
Energies company plans downtown groundbreaking
YOUNGSTOWN — Zoetic Global is readying a warehouse on the east end of downtown to become the northeast Ohio-based company’s refrigerant manufacturing and distribution center but plans a celebration ahead of the start of production.
The company announced Thursday a grand opening for the new Zoetic Refrigerant plant is planned for July 24.
The facility at 360 E. Federal St. “marks a significant milestone in Zoetic’s mission to provide clean, reliable energy to the local community and beyond,” a news release states.
Companies that work with Zoetic, the release states, “will realize energy reduction of up to 30% and share in carbon credits supported by precise energy and emissions reduction data.”
At the moment, the company has six people at the site “providing a variety of startup functions,” Ashleigh Jacubec, Zoetic’s vice president of global marketing, said. Refrigerant production is expected to begin by Sept. 1, and once production ramps, the facility could employ as many as 30 people, Jacubec said.
In March 2023, former U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, a Democrat who represented the Mahoning Valley in Congress for 20 years joined the energies technologies company as its global business development officer. Shortly thereafter, he announced Zoetic signed a lease on the nearly 30,000-square-foot facility with plans to make it into its manufacturing and distribution hub for refrigerant.
“Youngstown has the skilled workforce essential to our success and serves as an ideal hub for distributing our products across North America and beyond,” Ryan stated in the release. “It’s a great testament to our community that a company from Northeast Ohio is at the forefront of global innovation and technology.”
The Youngstown / Warren Regional Chamber has been working with Zoetic for about a year on the project.
“We are very fortunate to have such a progressive, high-tech, innovative company put a stake in the ground in our community,” Guy Coviello, the chamber’s president and CEO, said. “The technology, once again, puts the (Mahoning) Valley at an industrial forefront. The timing is perfect to restart the vitalization of downtown.”
Coviello also said he’s grateful Ryan, who moved to the Columbus area last year for the job with Zoetic, has not forgotten his hometown region.
“This company could be anywhere,” Coviello said.
Zoetic operates its carbon credit headquarters near the state capital.
In addition to the ribbon cutting event, Zoetic will host a series of events July 24 to “showcase its portfolio of technologies and announce exciting partnerships,” including one with Seoul, South Korea-based Trident Global Holdings to enter the rare earth market.
The companies in March announced they signed a joint venture agreement aimed at carbon reduction, hydrogen energy generation and water remediation, according to a release on Zoetic’s website. The official signing is planned during the event.
Trident Global Holdings, the release states, is a conglomerate with holdings in mining, real estate, and carbon capture technology.
In addition, scheduled to speak are Theodore Roosevelt IV, managing director in investment banking at Barclays and chairman of the firm’s Clean Tech Initiative, and Zoetic Global CEO Avery Hong.
