Parolee from Liberty goes back to prison

WARREN — A Liberty man is going back to prison after a parole violation.

Michael J. Wilson, 30, of Northview Boulevard, will serve another nine months after failing to report to the adult parole authority in Trumbull County.

Wilson pleaded guilty in 2018 in Mahoning County to aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery, as well as a firearms offense, and was sentenced to five years in prison. He remains under the supervision of the state’s adult parole authority for another five years following his release in April 2023.

Wilson was living in Trumbull County and was supposed to report to a parole officer, but failed to do so in June. He was charged with a fifth-degree felony count of escape, and Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Andrew Logan sent him back to prison on Tuesday.

Logan also ordered a presentencing investigation for Naquonda K. Holly, 37, of Youngstown. Holly pleaded guilty Tuesday to an amended fourth-degree felony charge of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

On Feb. 11, Liberty police responded to the Baymont Inn off Belmont Avenue, in response to a car parked for more than 20 minutes with the occupants wearing ski masks. Holly was found in possession of a 40-caliber KAHR handgun.

As part of her plea agreement, Holly agreed to forfeit the handgun while prosecutors will drop a third-degree felony charge of tampering with evidence.

Holly could face a maximum 18-month prison term, and will be sentenced after probation officers conduct a background check. Court records show Holly has no prior offenses in Trumbull County and a few minor traffic violations in Mahoning County between 2018 and 2021.
