YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office has identified the man found shot to death Thursday on Judson Avenue on the South Side as Jermaine Tillis, 51.

A Youngstown police report states officers were sent just after 5 a.m. to Judson Avenue and found a man in the driveway of a home.

He was dead when officers arrived, having been shot in the head, according to the report. When ambulance personnel arrived, they confirmed the death.

If confirmed to be a homicide, it will be the 14th of the year in Youngstown.

It would be the 15th of the year in Youngstown if the June 13 officer-involved shooting of Mathue O’Malley is counted. The city had 22 homicides in 2023.
