2 men charged with burglary at North Side apartment
YOUNGSTOWN — Two men were captured inside an apartment building in the 200 block of Crandall Avenue on the North Side on Monday afternoon and charged with a low-level burglary.
They are Louis Lebron, 19, and Emanuel J. Carter, 21, and they are set for arraignment today in Youngstown Municipal Court. If they are convicted, each could get about 18 months in prison.
Youngstown police were called to the home at 3:38 p.m. for a burglary being committed by seven men on foot trying to get into the apartment. A 911 caller said one of the men was “upset about their sister overdosing.”
When officers arrived, they heard a banging noise as if someone were kicking a door. A witness told officers seven men were in an upstairs apartment, according to a police report.
Officers saw a door to the apartment building open and saw two men leave the building and run south through the back yard. Then officers saw Lebron and Carter running toward officers. One of them ran back up the stairs, but both were arrested and placed in the back of a police cruiser, the police report states.
Officers then spoke to a witness, who said the bottom floor side door was forced open by the men, and when the witness saw the men running in the hallway, he locked himself in his bathroom.
