Program looks at 10-cent beer night

The Cleveland Indians’ infamous 10-cent beer night 50 years ago this month will be the topic of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s next Bites and Bits of History program.

Local author Vince Guerrieri, whose books include “Weird Moments in Cleveland Sports” and “Ohio Sports Trivia,” will talk about the June 4, 1974, game with the Texas Rangers where bad blood between the two teams and and a crowd fueled by cheap beer led to a melee and a forfeit.

The program starts at noon, Thursday at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St, Youngstown. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy the free program, sponsored by the John and Loretta Hynes Foundation.

Starting at $2.99/week.
