Patrols, checkpoint net 5 OVI arrests

BOARDMAN — Nearly 180 cars passed through a checkpoint Friday on state Route 7 near Mill Creek Drive, with two confirmed OVI arrests.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Canfield post, the checkpoint ran 10 p.m. to 12 a.m., with saturation patrols with police from Canfield and Boardman until 2 a.m.

Three vehicles were identified for field sobriety testing, according to a news release from OSP, resulting in the arrests.

During the saturation patrols, three additional OVI arrests were made, along with a felony weapons arrest, the release states.
