Girard police charge mom with drug use in front of toddler

GIRARD — A Youngstown mother and a Mineral Ridge man are facing charges after police responded to reports of a woman acting erratically.

David Searcy, 56, pleaded not guilty to child endangerment when appearing for a video arraignment Monday before Girard Municipal Court Judge Jeffrey D. Adler.

His bond is set at $5,000, and he will have another hearing July 31.

Natalee Good, 31, has not appeared before a judge. She is charged with child endangerment and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

A Girard police report states the pair was arrested after officers responded around 12:52 p.m. May 28 to a vehicle in the back parking lot of Boardman Medical Supply, 300 N. State St.

Searcy informed officers he had taken his girlfriend to a “drug house” in Youngstown, where she purchased an unknown quantity of drugs, the report states. Searcy said she started acting out of control after she used the drugs. He said he was planning to take her to the Girard Probation Department. Officers heard a child crying in the back seat and removed a 3-year-old girl.

The woman appeared to be going in and out of consciousness, prompting officers to request assistance from the Girard Fire Department and Lane ambulance service. Officers administered a dose of NARCAN, which stabilized her, according to the police report.

When responders arrived, they found a rolled-up $5 bill Good had been sitting on. Another rolled-up bill fell out of the vehicle as she was being assisted.

Police stated the bill contained an unknown rocklike substance, according to the report. The woman said the substance was fentanyl, according to the report, and agreed to be treated at the hospital.

Searcy allowed the police to search the vehicle, where they found another $5 bill containing an unknown powder. A pink burnt metal pipe was found on the front passenger floorboard, the report states.

The toddler’s father arrived to take custody of her.
