Henderson, 26, of Bryson Street was sentenced to another 2.5 years in prison Wednesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, on top of the 5.5 years he got last year. The additional 2.5 years resulted from several convictions in two separate criminal cases. In one from 2019, Henderson pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm, improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, tampering with evidence and fentanyl possession. In one from 2020, he pleaded guilty to another count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. All of those convictions added up to 30 months in prison. Henderson was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison last fall after being found guilty at trial of failure to comply with the order of a police officer in another case. Henderson pleaded guilty to cocaine possession, fentanyl related compound possession and obstructing official business in that case also. His total sentence is eight years, but Henderson gets credit for 460 days spent in the Mahoning County jail awaiting trial. His sentence was jointly recommended by the prosecution and defense. After the sentencing, Judge Anthony D’Apolito told Henderson he “had a big mess, and this clears everything. After you get out, you and the State of Ohio are squared. I hope you start over again and make better decisions so you won’t be back in a courtroom.” Have an interesting story? Contact Ed Runyan by email at erunyan@vindy.com.
