Woman indicted in three theft-related cases pleads guilty to most charges

Ordered not to host pool parties at home, charged with selling furniture she didn’t have

YOUNGSTOWN — A woman who was indicted in three Mahoning County theft-related cases in about two months last year pleaded guilty in all three Tuesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

Prosecutors are recommending Taylor A. Moore, 31, serve one year in prison and pay about $13,000 in restitution to several victims, including a bank. Sentencing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Aug. 1

Moore came to the public’s attention last summer when she and others hosted a Memorial Day pool party at her home on Glenwood Avenue in Boardman that frustrated neighbors and township officials because of alleged noise, trash and parking problems, according to township officials.

It was about the same time that a Mahoning County Common Pleas Court judge banned Moore and the others from hosting the parties that the theft-related indictments were filed.

Judge R. Scott Krichbaum ruled in July the home was a nuisance because it was located in a residential area, and the township’s zoning laws prohibit commercial use. Charging an entry fee would violate the township’s zoning laws, the ruling stated.

The defendants were not allowed to rent or lease the property for any public social gatherings and were permanently prohibited from advertising, scheduling or hosting social gatherings for profit.

INDICTMENTS

Moore’s first indictments were released July 21. She was charged with telecommunications fraud, theft from a person in a protected class and two counts of theft from early 2022 in Austintown.

The telecommunications fraud charge was dismissed in exchange for Moore’s guilty plea on the three theft-related charges, according to court documents.

Moore was accused of operating a store selling furniture, prosecutors said. Investigators received a report of Moore putting items on her website that were from a store in Liberty and taking money from buyers, but not delivering the items.

In that case, Moore was ordered to pay restitution of $1,714 to one customer, $1,662 to another customer and $2,700 to another customer.

Two other sets of indictments were handed down Sept. 22.

In one of the cases, Moore was indicted on two counts of forgery and one count of theft. In the other case she was indicted on one count of theft.

In the case involving forgery and theft, she was accused of forging two checks at a bank in Austintown — one Jan. 20, 2023, and one on Jan. 24, 2023. Because she obtained money, she was also charged with theft.

In her plea agreement, Moore was ordered to pay restitution of $5,701 to the Woodforest National Bank.

In the case that involved just theft, she was accused of committing an additional offense in the case involving the operation of an Austintown furniture store. In her plea agreement she is ordered to pay $2,831 in restitution to a woman in that case.

In each of the three cases, prosecutors are recommending that Moore serve 12 months in prison, but they are recommending that the 12-month sentences all be served at the same time for a total of 12 months in prison.

Her attorney will be able to argue for less incarceration at her sentencing, according to court documents.
