Police respond to Liberty gunshots

LIBERTY — Police found three shell casings in an apartment complex parking lot while responding to a call for shots fired.

Liberty police officers were called to Monticello Boulevard about 2 a.m. Sunday after hearing one gunshot coming from the back of the Monticello Apartments parking lot. After arriving at the building, an officer reported hearing an additional four to five gunshots while searching the area, according to an incident report.

A witness advised officers he saw two male suspects with ski masks run into a nearby wooded area. Officers further searched the area and found footprints in surrounding grass leading into the woods, but no one was found.
