NILES — The National McKinley Birthplace Memorial Museum will host a Memorial Day choir concert at 6 p.m. at the museum. The Valley Senior Choir will perform a patriotic-themed concert. Reservations are needed at 330-652-4273.

SUNDAY

CORTLAND — The Cortland Veterans Memorial Committee and the American Legion Post 540 of Cortland will hold a ceremony 2 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial at Point

Park. The guest speaker is Lt. Commander Michael Popadak (US. Navy retired).

McDONALD — Village service at 1 p.m. at the War Memorial in Woodland Park with placement of flags for veterans at the memorial.

MONDAY

BEAVER — 11 a.m. program at the Veterans Memorial at state Routes 164 and 165.

BOARDMAN — Groups participating in the parade assemble at the Boardman Center Intermediate School at 9 a.m. with the parade at 10 a.m. The parade originates at the school, then proceeds north on state Route 7 to the U.S. Route 224 intersection, then proceeds east on Route 224 to Boardman Township Park. A service at 11 a.m. will be conducted at the Boardman Park Maag Outdoor Amphitheater. speaker is Dan Rivers, a United States Navy veteran, who served two tours during the Vietnam War. He is the host of the Dan Rivers Show on 570 WKBN radio. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be inside the Boardman Park Community Center at 10 a.m.

BRACEVILLE — Parade at 11 a.m. at the center, followed by an 11:30 a.m. service at the cemetery and noon lunch at the road department.

BRISTOL — There will be a 9:30 a.m. service at the veterans memorial at the Sager Cemetery entrance, a 10 a.m. service at the veterans memorial at Evergreen Cemetery, a 10:30 a.m. service at Bristol Township Park and a final assembly at Ohio’s first Civil War memorial.

BROOKFIELD — A parade starts at 10 a.m., leading to the cemetery where a ceremony will take place. The featured speaker is U.S. Air Force veteran Gary Yonchak. The Ladies Auxiliary is hosting a luncheon after the ceremony at the fire hall.

CAMPBELL — A service will take place at 10 a.m. at Campbell Memorial High School with guest speaker Frank Marr, a local photographer and Marine Corps veteran. The service also will feature a 21-gun salute and other speakers. The service will be followed by a reception at Roosevelt Park’s community center.

CANFIELD — 10 a.m. service at the Veterans Plaza on the North Village Green. The featured speaker is SSgt. Derick A. Young, United States Marine Corps (Retired), director of the Mahoning County Veterans Honor Court and adjunct faculty for the Department of Criminal Justice at Youngstown State University. Following the ceremony, there will be a procession to the Canfield East Cemetery, where a brief ceremony will honor deceased Canfield veterans. Participants then will return to the Canfield War Vets Museum where a final ceremony will take place to honor the following individuals whose names have been added to the Wall of Honor: Albert Mazzeo, U.S. Army, killed in action, World War II; Dan McBride, U.S. Army, WWII; Richard Powell, U.S. Marine Corps, killed in action, Vietnam; and Norman Swaney, U.S. Army, POW, WWII.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony on the green portion of the services will be moved to the Canfield High School auditorium.

CHAMPION — Parade is 9 a.m. starting at the northernmost entrance to Champion High School and proceeds south on state Route 45, left on state Route 305 and ends at the township cemetery for a service.

FOWLER — 10 a.m. service at the center green followed by a parade and ceremony at 11 a.m. There will be a C-130 flyover performance by the 910th Airlift Wing.

GIRARD — 11 a.m. service at cemetery. Girard High School valedictorians

and class presidents will read the names of Girard veterans and the Gettysburg Address.

HOWLAND — Howland American Legion will host a service at 10 a.m. at the Howland Township Cemetery. The speaker will be Trumbull County Family Court Judge Samuel Bluedorn, a veteran of the Marine Reserve.

HUBBARD — A procession will begin 10 a.m. at Union Cemetery and head down Liberty Street to the war memorial at Tylee Park. There will be speakers from the community and Hubbard City schools at both locations. The event is being coordinated by the Hubbard VFW.

JOHNSTON — Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7614 will host a ceremony at 10 a.m. at the cemetery, 4424 Greenville Road NE, next to the fire department.

LEAVITTSBURG — Parade at 10 a.m. to the Veteran’s Park on West Market Street where a service will be held.

NEWTON FALLS — Parade at 10:30 a.m. It starts at the west parking lot of Cadle Company by the fire station and travels south on North Canal to Broad Street, west on Broad Street to the West River Bridge. There is a service at the bridge, where Newton Falls Municipal Court Judge Philip Vigorito with Kelley Brasko and Maryanne Madison from VFW Auxiliary 3332 will speak. The parade will proceed to Veterans Park.

NILES — American Legion William McKinley Post 106 will have a service at 11 a.m. at the city cemetery.

NORTH JACKSON — 8:45 a.m. ceremony at the Vietnam Memorial at the former Jackson-Milton football field. Parade at 9 a.m. from the football field parking lot to the cemetery. Les Wright, former Army Sergeant, veteran of Afghanistan and a teacher at MCCTC, will be the guest speaker. Veterans and family members of those currently serving are encouraged to wear something signifying their branch of service.

POLAND — Sons of the American Legion will conduct its annual Four Chaplains Ceremony, honoring four military chaplains who gave up their life jackets after their ship, the USS Dorchester, sank, 9:15 a.m. at the War Memorial Building. 35 Cortland St. The procession begins at 10 a.m. from post and will stop briefly on the Main Street Bridge for a ceremony honoring those lost at sea.

SOUTHINGTON — American Legion Post 751 will host a ceremony at 11 a.m. at the township park.

WARREN — The Trumbull County Memorial Day program will begin at 11 a.m. at the amphitheater followed by a parade. The ceremony will honor Warren native Capt. Richard Morgan Rees, U.S. Army Special Forces, who was killed in action on Dec. 15, 1973. He served in Vietnam and was part of the American Soldiers Missing in Action search team. Rees was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his bravery and leadership. The Special Forces Chapter 35 of Ohio donated a new military gravestone at Oakwood Cemetery in honor of Rees, which will be dedicated following the program at the amphitheater and parade.
