Man shot in hip around noon on Dewey Ave. on South Side
YOUNGSTOWN — A man was grazed in the hip by a bullet during an 11:30 a.m. Monday shooting on Dewey Avenue on the South Side.
Police were called to the location for a shooting and spoke to the victim, who said he was pointing at bullet shell casings in the street in front of a home on Dewey when he was shot.
Ten casings were found. The victim refused treatment or transport to the hospital.
The victim said the incident was “fueled over Facebook,” and then the person came over to Dewey Avenue.
He said he and the other person “had some words,” and the other person pulled out an unknown firearm and began shooting at him. The victim said he turned and ran toward a house as the bullets hit the sidewalk next to him. He said the other person then fled in a vehicle westbound on East Dewey Avenue. Police officers searched the area for the other person but didn’t find him. The bullet shell casings were taken into evidence.
