11 YSU students land Ohio Export internships

YOUNGSTOWN – Eleven Youngstown State University business students and one from the University of Akron have been selected to be in YSU’s Williamson College of Business Administration’s 2024 Ohio Export Internship program.

The 12 students will be paired with northeast and eastern Ohio-based companies for paid, full-time internships that contain projects such as market expansion and international business plans, along with market research and export compliance, according to a YSU news release.

Before being chosen for the competitive offer, the students completed specialized coursework during the spring semester in exporting.

The internship program, created by the Ohio Department of Development, is intended to provide opportunities for businesses to expand their exporting activities.

The Williamson college has hosted the internship program for more than 10 years, and more than 100 students have completed it. Of those, 23 students have gotten full-time job offers and 23 of them have passed the Certified Global Business Professional exam.

This year’s YSU students selected for the internship program are:

Taylor Aquisto of North Lima, who is a marketing major. Aquisto will be matched with BrightPet Nutrition Group of Lisbon.

Haley Beish of Boardman, a senior business economics major who also plans to study international business law after graduating from YSU. Beish will be matched with Youngstown-based Taylor-Winfield Technologies Inc.

Naji Khoury of Boardman, who is pursuing a degree in finance and accounting, and runs a business called K’s Vending LLC. Khoury will be matched with Humtown Pattern Co. in Columbiana.

James Kover of Niles, a finance major who is minoring in data analytics. Kover, who is president of YSU’s Student Investment Fund, will be matched with Mojonnier USA LLC of Streetsboro.

David Shannon of Austintown, who is pursuing a degree in business administration. He will be matched with Molten Metal Equipment Innovations LLC of Middlefield.

Brighid Wagner of Youngstown, who is pursuing a degree in financial management, with a minor in accounting. Wagner is secretary of YSU’s Institute of Management Accountants chapter s will be matched with Altronic LLC in Girard.

Garrett D. Bailey, originally from Lisbon, is majoring in marketing and serves as a presidential mentor to YSU President Bill Johnson. Bailey will be matched with North Lima-based Rust Buster Frame Repair LLC.

Kodi Kinsey of Wellsville, who is pursuing a degree in business administration. Kinsey is matched with Kirila Fire Training Facilities Inc. in Fowler.

Zachary Chesman, a senior who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a focus on supply-chain management. Chesman, who is a member of YSU’s Sokolov Honors College, will be matched with SIMONA Boltaron Inc. in Newcomerstown.

Fatima Mohamed, who is pursuing a degree in international business. Mohamed is matched with Haltec Corp. in Leetonia.

Emily Smith, who is pursuing a marketing degree, with minors in music violin performance and Spanish. Smith, who also plans to earn a master’s degree in marketing from YSU, is matched with Columbiana-based CBC Global, formerly Columbiana Boiler Co. LLC.

In addition to YSU, the Ohio Export Internship program is offered at The Ohio State University, Cleveland and Bowling Green state universities, the University of Dayton and Ohio University.
