Gunfire hits house, car on North Evanston Avenue
YOUNGSTOWN — A home in the 100 block of North Evanston Avenue was hit by gunfire early Monday, but no one was reported injured.
According to a police report, officers were dispatched to the area of Mahoning Avenue and North Evanston for a gunfire call after 1 a.m. When they arrived, they found a spent bullet shell casing on the street.
Another officer saw fresh bullet holes in the home, as well as in a vehicle parked in the driveway.
Officers also found spent bullet shell casings on the front porch of the home.
The resident said they were going downstairs to close the front door when an unknown suspect started shooting at the house.
Nine casings of one caliber and one of another caliber were found on the street, and 32 bullet shell casings of another caliber were found in the front porch of a home, according to the police report.
The vehicle in the driveway had a broken back driver’s side window and a broken back windshield.
