CANFIELD — The Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio has been awarded a $1.2 million state grant to advance teacher credentials.

The center in Canfield was among several institutions to share $3 million to create programs for teachers to complete additional qualifications to teach college courses under the College Credit Plus program at their high schools. The money can be used to pay for tuition, textbooks and other materials.

Others awarded grants were the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio, $446,129; Kent State University, $182,275; East Central Ohio Educational Service Center, $919,552; and Montgomery County Educational Service Center, $230,364.
