Austintown’s July 4 fireworks event set at racino

AUSTINTOWN — The township’s annual 4th of July Fireworks Celebration will be hosted this year, for the first time, at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course.

The celebration, traditionally held on the Sunday before July 4, will be June 30, and is a partnership between Austintown Generational Enrichment Corp. and Hollywood Gaming, according to a news release from AGE.

At 11 a.m. today, the nonprofit will be presented a check from Austintown trustees and Greenwood Chevrolet for the fireworks event.

The annual July 4 Fireworks Celebration will feature food trucks, celebrity meet-and-greets, bounce houses, a dunk tank, community performances and a three-band concert series headlined by Classic Stones. Gates will open at noon and fireworks are expected to launch at 10 p.m.

Austintown trustees Monica Deavers, Robert Santos and Bruce Shepas, in a joint statement, said, “We are proud to once again support the community’s pinnacle event and are appreciative of the collaboration between the teams at AGE, Hollywood and many others who support this celebration.”

AGE Vice President Jim Davis, who spearheads the event, said, “This will be the biggest 4th of July Celebration yet. We have a jam packed event calendar pushing the start time to noon to accommodate an amazing entertainment schedule. I encourage everyone to follow our Austintown Fireworks Celebration Facebook page for all of the latest details and updates.”

Robert Swedinovich, vice president and general manager of Hollywood Gaming, said, “We are excited to host Austintown’s premier 4th of July Celebration, a community that opened its arms to us 10 years ago and continues to be a place we are proud to call home.”
