Dog bites fast-food worker in Boardman
BOARDMAN — A dog at a local fast-food restaurant mistook an employee for a menu item.
According to a Boardman police report, a woman working at Chick-Fil-A on Boardman-Poland Road was bitten Friday when she tried to pet a customer’s dog.
The report states the employee was bringing the customer’s order to him when the dog came to the open window. She asked permission to pet the dog, and the customer told her it was safe. The report states the employee held her hand out for the dog to sniff before she tried to pet it, but the dog lunged and bit her hand.
The report states the employee was treated at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital for a cut and bruise on the ring finger of her right hand, but staff at the hospital told her it could not be stitched because of the risk of infection. She also will need a course of injections to protect against rabies because she does not have access to the dog’s medical records.
The report states the restaurant was able to obtain a name from the payment information on the man’s order, and also the license plate on the vehicle.
