Gunshots recorded on Hudson Avenue on South Side

YOUNGSTOWN — Shots were fired into or near a home on the South Side, but not much information is available.

According to a Youngstown police report, officers were called to the 2900 block of Hudson Avenue after receiving a ShotSpotter notification of six gunshots at 9:22 p.m. Tuesday.

ShotSpotter alerts the Youngstown Police Department of gunfire on the city’s South Side.

The report states that it appeared the shots came from the street, and officers found six fired bullet shell casings on the street in front of the house. The casings were collected as evidence. Officers checked for homes with any damage and could not find any.

A person from the neighborhood filled out a victim’s-rights form, which is used to allow a crime victim to opt out of being named in police reports or other documents given out to the public.

The report was captioned “aggravated menacing,” but much of the report was blacked out, so it was not possible to find out what type of menacing the victim reported.
