BOARDMAN -- A man was arrested on charges of robbery and domestic violence last week.
According to a Boardman police report, police forcibly arrested Rayvon Parker on Jan. 17, a day after he was accused of beating the pregnant mother of his children and stealing her Jeep. He also had warrants for a similar incident in May 2022.
Parker, 25, of Youngstown, appeared before Mahoning County Boardman Court Judge Joseph Houser last Thursday, and Houser ordered for him to be held in Mahoning County jail without bond. At a preliminary hearing Tuesday, Houser continued Parker's bond and ordered his cases bound over to Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Parker faces multiple felony charges, stemming from two separate incidents in which he allegedly terrorized and assaulted the mother of his four children and unborn child.
On Jan. 16, police responded to the woman's apartment, near Mathews Road and Applecrest Court, after she and a neighbor reported that she was fighting with Parker.
The police report states that she told them Parker had punched her in the face, kicked her in the stomach several times and dragged her around the apartment by her hair. At 33 weeks pregnant, she said she could no longer feel her baby moving.
According to the report, Parker then took the keys to her Jeep and fled before police arrived.
The report states that the woman told police she was having lower abdominal pain and police noted that she had bald patches on her lower scalp from her hair being ripped out.
The report also states that there were seven young children in the apartment at the time of the incident.
The unborn baby was found to be unharmed and the woman was kept at the hospital for observation. The woman told police that although she was still afraid Parker would come back and hurt her again, she did not want to press charges.
Police were notified the next day that Parker had returned to the apartment. A large contingent of police officers arrived and ordered him to surrender at gunpoint. The report states that he refused to comply and appeared to be reaching for something near his waistband. An officer tased him but officers still had to tackle him to the ground and tase him at close range to subdue him.
Parker was charged with robbery and felony domestic violence, as well as felony charges of assaulting a police officer, obstructing police business, having weapons while not allowed and receiving stolen property.
Following Parker's arrest for last week's incident, police also booked him on felony charges stemming from a May 19, 2022, incident involving the same woman.
That day, Parker allegedly burst into her Rockdale Avenue apartment, carrying a gun in his hand and making demands about the children. The report states that when the victim tried to wrestle the gun from him, it discharged into the apartment ceiling.
The report states that a neighbor told police she tried to stop him from entering the apartment building but he brandished the gun at her.
According to the report, after the shot was fired, either the mother or the neighbor tried to remove the children from the situation and take them outside. The report states Parker came outside and fired more shots, then forced the mother and children into his car and fled before police arrived.
The report states the neighbor told police Parker had been arrested a year earlier for abducting one of the children and an Amber Alert had been issued, but there is no court record matching that allegation.
Police later found the woman and children at Parker's Bon Air Avenue home in Youngstown and removed them safely from the house, but Parker was not found.
Police issued a warrant for his arrest, on felony charges of aggravated burglary and two counts of felonious assault. Those charges also were heard Tuesday and bound over to Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
