The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation will have a new CEO come 2025.
Andrew Lipkin, who has been the CEO since January 2015 and has served in multiple positions within the Federation since 1985, announced in a news release Tuesday that he is retiring, effective Dec. 31, 2024.
The organization also has found Lipkin's replacement as it has entered into negotiations with Lisa Long, who is the federation's financial resource development director. Long has served in her role since 2018 and also has worked in a variety of nonprofit roles, including leadership positions in both Vermont and around the Mahoning Valley for more than 20 years.
"When we moved here almost 12 years ago the Jewish community embraced us with open arms and truly made this our home," Long stated in a press release Tuesday. "It is now my turn to return that favor. I am ecstatic and honored to have been chosen as the next leader of Jewish Youngstown. It has been a goal I've been working toward since joining the Federation in April of 2018. The foundation that our CEOs, Stanley Engel, Sam Kooperman, and Andy Lipkin, laid has set our community up for success. I am excited to take our Federation to the next level. This is not just a career for me, this is a calling. I am building a community for my children, and hopefully their children. Jewish Youngstown is our home."
During his time with the federation, Lipkin served in various roles, including Jewish Community Relations Council and Women's Division Director, Campaign Director, Assistant Federation Director and CEO.
