Open house at Hubbard senior center set for Dec. 13

HUBBARD — Mayor Ben Kyle announced at Monday’s council meeting that the SCOPE Senior Center open house will be 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 13 at the Hubbard Senior Center.

Kyle, who will be attending the open house, said its purpose is to bring seniors and members of the community into the senior center for a meet and greet with SCOPE. Coffee and doughnuts will be served.

He also said SCOPE is in the process of hiring a site manager and other employees already have been hired.

“Hopefully, we’ll have some fliers or newsletters and they’ll (the seniors and residents) be able to talk to the people from SCOPE and maybe learn more about it,” he said.

Council President Bill Williams thanked Kyle for his efforts on the senior center.

“I’d just like to compliment you, mayor, on the hard work completed to get the SCOPE center in here,” Williams said. “I think it’s going to be great for our city and it’s great to be able to see that area getting back to use.”

Kyle said plans are to open the center in January.
