Liberty police assaulter sentenced again on separate charges from jail incident

WARREN — After being sentenced to two to three years in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday, a Youngstown woman received 12 months Wednesday for charges related to an incident in Liberty.

Appearing before Judge Sean O’Brien Wednesday, Sheriann Odem, 25, of Youngstown, pleaded to two charges of fifth-degree harassment with a bodily substance and one fifth-degree assault charge.

The case revolves around what Odem did after being arrested and booked into county jail for shoplifting at the Walmart in Liberty Plaza. Odem had led officers on a foot chase through the parking lot and threatened police, striking one in the process.

According to the prosecutor’s office, on Jan. 8, 2023, Odem had cut herself in her cell and when correctional officers responded, she tried to spit on them.

Odem will serve her latest sentence concurrently to the two to three years she was sentenced to Tuesday by Judge Andrew D. Logan.
