City man pursued in lounge killing

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Police Department announced Wednesday that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Jonthony Altreche, 19, in the Dec. 10 shooting death of Ty’Rice Logan, 26, outside of Miss Daisy’s Lounge, 2210 South Ave.

Altreche “should be considered armed and dangerous,” the department stated in a press release.

Altreche was charged with murder in Youngstown Municipal Court on Dec. 15. The charge carries a possible penalty of 15 years to life if convicted, according to court records.

Altreche is 5-foot-10 and 125 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

The Logan killing was the third of three that took place in less than 24 hours over a weekend — Dec. 9 and early Dec. 10. Capt. Jason Simon of the detective division of the Youngstown Police Department said several days later that police did not think the three homicides were related.

In Logan’s death, police said his body was found near the sidewalk outside of the lounge at 4:41 a.m. with multiple gunshot wounds.

The same day the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office identified Logan as the victim at Miss Daisy’s, they identified Josea Hodges, 22, as the victim of multiple gunshot wounds Saturday morning in the 1900 block of East Midlothian Boulevard on the South Side.

The coroner’s office said they were notified at 11:30 a.m. of Hodges’ death at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.

Police have not given a specific time for the killing but said it happened at or near a well-traveled portion of the roadway. They asked that anyone who saw anything should call police.

The coroner’s office also notified the public that the person found dead on Old McCartney Road in the afternoon of Dec. 9 was Chyann Gruber, 20. Her body had multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner’s office reported. Police have provided few details on that case.

Simon said Dec. 13 that Youngstown police had “persons of interest or suspects in mind for all three of these cases.”
