WARREN -- A Hubbard man with a history of violence and making threats faces new charges related to threats to set a family member's house on fire.
Daniel Good, 32, of East Liberty Street, was booked into Trumbull County jail on Dec. 7 on felony charges of third-degree making terroristic threats, fourth-degree assault, two counts of fifth-degree aggravated menacing, a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest.
According to a Hubbard Township police report, the mother of Good called police to a home in the 900 block of East Liberty Street after she told police her son set her house on fire.
When police arrived at the residence, they described Good's behavior as erratic and he threatened to shoot officers and blow up the police station on multiple occasions.
Attempting to deescalate the situation, the responding officer detained Good in handcuffs, but he continued to show resistance.
Police say Good became "extremely aggressive" in the cruiser, kicking the vehicle doors and windows, while continuing to make a barrage of threats to blow up a school along with the police and fire departments
According to Girard Municipal Court records, during Good's first court appearance last Thursday the judge ordered him to be held without bond deeming him a "threat to the safety of himself and others."
Good has a long storied history of run-ins with the criminal justice system.
In 2016, while already on parole, he made terroristic threats against former Howland police chief Todd Coonce and the police station.
He was also sentenced to 12 months in prison in 2021 for violating probation on a 2018 conviction stemming from an assault on his parents.
Hubbard police were called in relation to an assault on Oct. 21, 2018, to a home on East Liberty Street. Good's parents reported their son was "out of control" when he came over intoxicated and asking for beer money, a report states.
Good hit his father in the head with a jug full of car wash soap, knocking him down and causing him to hit his head on a car bumper. He also pushed his mother to the ground and shattered a glass door with a chair, the report states.
According to county jail records, Good previously has been charged with assault, domestic violence, making false alarms, vandalism, aggravated robbery, receiving stolen property, breaking and entering, probation violation and various traffic violations.
