Man cited for theft from his employer

AUSTINTOWN -- A man with a long criminal record faces new charges after police arrested him for allegedly stealing cash and paychecks from his employer.

According to a police report, Brandon McDowell, 43, of Youngstown, could be seen on surveillance breaking into a cash register to remove cash and stealing another employee's paycheck from his boss' desk. On Wednesday, before Mahoning County Austintown Court Judge Scott Hunter, McDowell pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor theft and was released on $1,250 cash or surety bond.

He is due back in court on Dec. 18.
