Boardman shopping complex presents skating rink for second year
BOARDMAN — The Rink at DeBartolo Commons in Boardman opened for the season Friday, giving skaters, both young and old, novice and pro, the opportunity to hit the ice.
The Rink is 35 x 60 feet and is located at the entrance to DeBartolo Commons at the south end of the Southern Park Mall. It features a chiller that helps make the ice and keep the ice frozen, making for a good skating surface.
“We are thrilled to bring back The Rink for its second year,” said Brian Gabbert, the mall’s general manager, in a recent news release.
“Here at Southern Park Mall we wanted to create an experience that families can enjoy during Christmas. We are proud to offer events and activities that bring people together to ignite the spirit of the season, while also supporting our local small businesses.”
As an added feature, skaters can enjoy the rink on Mondays from 5-6 p.m. when a special pass can be purchased that allows the pass holder to skate with a favorite princess or superhero.
Topping off the venue are carriage rides with Misty Lane Farms’ carriages and handsome Percheron draft horses. Carriage rides will be held 4-8 p.m. on Nov. 24, Dec. 8, and Dec. 15, and noon-4 p.m. on Dec. 23, 30, and 31. The rides are totally free and ride throughout the Commons.
Cost for ice skate rental is $12 for adults, $10 for kids; guests can bring their own skates or rent for $4
