YSU trustee donates $325,000 to new student center

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University Global Trustee Jocelyne Kollay Linsalata has made a $325,000 gift to the Zoldan Family Student Center Campaign.

The Zoldan Family Student Center will replace Kilcawley Center, which has served the YSU community since the mid-1960s. The total cost of the Zoldan Family Student Center is projected to be $45 million with the goal of raising $20 million philanthropically.

The Zoldan Family Student Center will be built on the site of Kilcawley Center with updates to accommodate and fit the environment of current and future students, including a food court, meeting rooms and student organization offices.

With this gift, Linsalata’s total lifetime giving to YSU and the YSU Foundation exceeds $2 million. She will now be recognized in the YSU Transformation Giving Society, which recognizes benefactors of more than $2 million.

Linsalata, who was appointed as a national / global trustee in 2023,is a native of Youngstown. She graduated from Chaney High School and is a two-time graduate of YSU, earning her BA and MBA. A longtime member of the YSU Foundation Board of Trustees, Linsalata served the Foundation from 2007-2023. She served as board chair from 2017-19 and as chair of the “We See Tomorrow” fundraising campaign, the largest fundraising campaign in YSU history raising over $126 million.

Linsalata sits on the advisory council for the Williamson College of Business Administration and is the recipient of YSU’s Friend of the University Award, as well as the Williamson College of Business Administration’s Outstanding Alumni Service Award.

Outside of YSU, Linsalata is active in the community. She is a committee member on the Campaign for Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building and is on the Committee for Student Success at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and on the Social Concerns Committee at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Gates Mills, Ohio.

In the past, she also has volunteered in multiple capacities with University Hospitals, Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in Cleveland and the village of Gates Mills.

In 2014, Linsalata was recognized by the Cleveland Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals as an Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer.
