Youngstown man arraigned on felonious assault
YOUNGSTOWN — Patrick A. Gaitor, 51, of Illinois Avenue, was arraigned in Youngstown Municipal Court on Friday on a charge of felonious assault.
Gaitor is charged in an incident where another man suffered an apparently serious stab wound of the abdomen.
Gaitor remained in the Mahoning County jail as of Tuesday.
The incident happened at 9:34 a.m Sept. 20 at a boarding home in the first block of Illinois Avenue on the North Side. Bond was set at $50,000, and Gaitor was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim.
When police arrived at Illinois Avenue, they found the victim, 63, who also lived in the home, on a gurney being attended to by ambulance personnel. He had a stab wound to his stomach, a Youngstown police report stated.
Paramedics said the wound came from a sharp object. An officer observed an apparently serious 3-inch stab wound.
According to the report, a staff member at the boarding home helped police locate the suspect on a back deck and he was taken into custody. A police officer observed blood on a blanket and blood drops leading to the back of the building.
At the hospital, the victim was found to be intubated and unconscious but in stable condition.
