FREE CONCERT: St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown, will have a free Sauce and Song Concert 1:15 p.m. Sunday featuring four international students from the Dana School of Music. The performers are from Indonesia and Venezuela and will perform classical, folk and pop music.

MASS FOR LIFE: Bishop David Bonnar of the Diocese of Youngstown will preside at a Mass for Life at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at St. Paul Parish, 241 S. Main St., North Canton, to mark the beginning of October's Respect Life Month. The annual Mass for Life is celebrated as part of the church's prayerful commitment to celebrate and protect life, and foster a greater respect for human life. WORLD DAY OF PRAYER: Canfield Presbyterian Church will host a World Day of Prayer Service at 6 p.m. Sunday. This will be an ecumenical worship service, which has been translated into 13 languages by a national committee led by the YWCA and includes many denominations and church organizations. The World Day of Prayer dates back to the 19th century when Christian women of the U.S. and Canada initiated a variety of activities in support of women's involvement in mission at home and in other parts of the world. This year's service is written by the women of Taiwan.

GROUNDBREAKING: Second Baptist Church, 1510 Main Ave. SW, Warren, will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the Garden of Hope community pavilion at noon Sunday. The garden acts as a memorial and place of rest and reflection in honor of those who battled any form of cancer. The pavilion project is part of the church's Vision 100 effort. Work on the pavilion will begin the week after the dedication. A ribbon cutting is planned in November for the church's 107th anniversary.

ADDICTION AWARENESS: First Presbyterian Church in Warren will offer an addiction awareness series program at 11:15 a.m. Sunday. Guest speaker will be Katie Cretella, director of clinical services at the Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board. The title of the talk is "Suicide Pre and Postvention." Cretella oversees the delivery of mental health and crisis services. She also is a social justice advocate dedicated to working with marginalized populations and helping to address the barriers they face in accessing resources such as medical, mental health and legal systems of care.

CHURCH PLANS TENT REVIVAL: Delightful Evangelical Church, 2473 Barclay Messerly Road, Southington, will have a tent revival with guest speaker Brian Westover for revival services Oct. 8-11. STATUE DEDICATION: Trinity United Methodist Church, 30 W. Front St., Youngstown, is dedicating its "When I Was in Prison" statue at 10 a.m. today front of the church. Other bronze statues in the series by world-renowned artist Timothy P. Schmalz have been unveiled previously at locations throughout downtown, including in front of St. Columba Cathedral on Wood Street and St. John Episcopal Church on Wick Avenue.

CHURCH HOMECOMING: Bristol Community Church is inviting the public to join it this weekend as it celebrates its annual homecoming activities at the church, corner of state Routes 45 and 88 in Bristolville. The weekend will kick off at 7 p.m. today with a free concert by Dave Calendine.

Calendine has played at the Music House Museum, as organist at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, associate organist for the Detroit Red Wings team and as occasional organist for the Radio City Rockettes in New York City. His musical mostly talent was self-taught as he spent much of his youth in the Bristol Community Church (formerly the Bristol Methodist Church) and Champion Presbyterian Church.

Calendine also will be part of the worship at 10:30 a.m. Sunday as he performs a medley of old-time hymns as part of the homecoming celebration.

RALLY DAY: First Presbyterian Church, Mahoning Avenue NW, Warren, will host its annual Rally Day festivities Sunday after 10 a.m. worship. The church will continue the Kids' Kamp theme of "Operation Restoration." The event is for children of all ages.
