Light the Way to raise support, awareness for breast cancer

NILES — Pink Lights the Way will host a cupcake walk at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Eastwood Field in Niles for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Pink Lights the Way is comprised of breast cancer survivors supporting women in treatment.

The mile walk will take place on the track at Eastwood Field and bring together community members to kick off October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Survivors and women in treatment will walk the lap and then be joined by other participants on the field to walk and have cupcakes donated from local bakeries.

Organizer Megan Schellhorn, who co-founded Pink Lights the Way, said money raised will help women in northeast Ohio undergoing treatment for breast cancer with meals, care packages, cancer support items and activity packages for children impacted by a breast cancer diagnosis.

Registrants will gather at 12:30 p.m. for music, games and family activities.
