Snyder takes helm at local newspapers

Ted Snyder

Longtime Tribune Chronicle and Vindicator General Manager Ted Snyder will take the reins in the top leadership role at the local newspapers following Publisher Charles Jarvis’ recent retirement.

Snyder has worked his entire career in the newspaper industry, including 37 years in the local newspaper office. He also worked for a few years at The Plain Dealer in Cleveland.

During his tenure, Snyder has climbed the company ladder, beginning in the circulation department. Snyder began delivering the Tribune Chronicle newspapers at age 11. After graduating high school, he began working in the Warren newspaper office. Through the years, he was promoted to district manager, distribution director and then headed the department as circulation director, before being named newspaper general manager in 2017.

“I welcome the opportunity to continue to produce two award-winning local newspapers every day,” Snyder said.

Snyder will continue in his existing role of managing business operations of the local newspapers. He said he also will maintain his ongoing goal of operating the Tribune Chronicle and The Vindicator with the highest standards. That will include continued focus on local news of the Mahoning Valley, efforts to grow both print and online readership and finding new ways to bolster advertising.

Snyder and his wife, Ann, live in Newton Falls. They have two adult children and three grandchildren.

Jarvis, who spent more than 55 years in the newspaper industry, including 25 as publisher in Warren, retired effective June 30.
