Girard grad competes on Peacock’s ‘Love Island’

A Youngstown native will among those looking for love — and reality television fame — on “Love Island.”

Marco Donatelli, 22, is one of 10 contestants on the fifth season of the dating competition series, which premieres Tuesday on the Peacock streaming service.

Five men and five women will live in a luxury villa in Fiji, where they will be coupled up and face various challenges throughout the season.

Competitors decide whether to stay with their original partner or pair off with someone else, while viewers get to vote on who gets another shot at love and who goes home.

Donatelli currently lives in Boca Raton, Fla., where he is studying to be a chiropractor.

According to the bio material supplied by the show, “Growing up in Youngstown, Ohio, Marco was always the troublemaker known for being unapologetically brash (and he likes it that way). He has no trouble scoring dates and his phone is always buzzing with texts and DMs from single ladies, and while he won’t always answer, he loves the game of being pursued.”

Donatelli also is a social media celebrity and model with 171,000 Instagram followers and Tik Tok videos that have surpassed 10 million views.

According to a 2022 profile by Men’s Journal, Donatelli graduated from Girard High School and played football at the University of Akron.

“Love Island” is hosted by Sarah Hyland (“Modern Family”), and Peacock will air six episodes each week.

Starting at $3.23/week.
